Regain Control: The Power of Physiotherapy for Incontinence
Women's Health Physiotherapy
Women's health physiotherapy involves the assessment, treatment and education related to conditions related to the female reproductive system and pelvic floor muscles. At Aeon Health, our women's health specialists are here to address your needs throughout different life stages.
Some of the concerns that women's health physiotherapy can help are:
-
Pregnancy related pains (e.g. lower back pain, thoracic pain, sacroiliac join dysfunction or pubic symphonic pain)
-
Incontinence (i.e. overactive/underactive bladder)
-
Pelvic floor weakness
-
Pain from hypertonic pelvic floor (e.g. vaginismus)
-
Core strengthening
-
Abdominal Separation (i.e. rectus diastasis)
-
Pelvic Prolapse
For concerns involving pelvic floor weakness, an internal examination of the pelvic floor muscles may be required. This examination provides more accurate information regarding pelvic floor activation patterns, strength, endurance and tone. However, if you do not wish to have an internal examination, Real-time Ultrasound can be used as an alternative.
By the end of this session, you will be well-informed with regards to the cause of your concerns and have a tailored plan on how to manage it. It is likely you will be given a home exercise program to help encourage further improvement of your issues.
